How much do registered nurses make?

The median annual wage for registered nurses was $97,550 in May 2025, so half of workers earned more and half earned less. The lowest-paid 10% earned less than $68,940 and the highest-paid 10% more than $137,470. As an hourly rate, the median is $46.90. About 3,379,720 people work in this occupation nationwide. The highest state medians are in California ($140,270), Hawaii ($136,320) and Oregon ($129,010). After taxes and local prices, though, a median paycheck goes furthest in Washington.
