How much do news analysts, reporters, and journalists make?

The median annual wage for news analysts, reporters, and journalists was $62,200 in May 2025, so half of workers earned more and half earned less. The lowest-paid 10% earned less than $36,240 and the highest-paid 10% more than $144,140. As an hourly rate, the median is $29.91. About 39,250 people work in this occupation nationwide. The highest state medians are in District of Columbia ($105,390), New York ($100,770) and Georgia ($81,910). District of Columbia also comes out on top after taxes and local prices.
